How the mind works
All day long, we consciously analyse and process information through our 5 senses at rapid speed to make decisions that align with our “belief system” to keep us safe and happy.
To make these decisions, we consciously send information to our subconscious mind; which is the library of our life experiences. In this library, the books can be viewed as our “beliefs” and so our subconscious mind guides us on what decision to make based on previous life experiences – or our “belief system” – which keeps us safe, results in a positive outcome or simply makes us “feel good”.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a psychological state of consciousness that is achieved when our brain experiences a focused sense of calm and relaxation. In this state of mind (usually between the Alpha and Theta state), we can bypass the highly analytical but limited conscious state of mind (Beta) to access the more powerful and resourceful subconscious mind.

What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the process of using hypnosis as a tool for therapeutic purposes. It can be measured by the level of positive changes in thoughts, feelings, behaviours and habits.
For example —> consciously you know exactly how many sugars you like in your morning coffee based on years and years of experience or learned behaviour.
Using hypnosis can help change an indoctrinated “belief” that 2 sugars in your morning coffee is the best decision for you, by suggesting that no sugar at all in your coffee is a far healthier and therefore better decision for you!
What does it feel like?
As natural as can be! You have enjoyed this state of mind throughout your entire life – you just don’t know it! Have you ever felt you are actually living the experience of a book while reading it? What about that feeling when you are on the edge of your seat in that awesome series on Netflix? Perhaps you even love to stare out the window and daydream during your daily commute to work on the train or bus.
This is what hypnosis feels like. It can be slightly different for each person but essentially, it is that state where nothing else exists apart from you and what you are experiencing in that moment. How about that moment just before you fall asleep – where you are completely relaxed with no thoughts but still ever so slightly aware that you are ready for deep sleep? Bingo!
Benefits…
As we know, the mind is an extremely complex system full of childhood memories, life experiences, learned behaviours and conditioned expectations. How often do you “tidy up” your mind though? Have you spent time sifting through all of your life experiences to upgrade some of the out of date or unwanted beliefs that make up your belief system? Well, not to worry because that is what I am here for!
"Your mind is a garden.
Your thoughts are the seeds.
You can grow flowers or you can grow weeds"
Your thoughts are the seeds.
You can grow flowers or you can grow weeds"
